I own a Bachelor degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics, University of Porto (1992), a Master degree (1998) and PhD degree in Economics (2005) from the same University.

I started my professional career in 1992, as a technician at IAPMEI (Instituto de Apoio às Pequenas e Médias Empresas e ao Investimento), where I performed functions of analysis and monitoring of investment projects, until 1996. Since then, I joined the Economics Department of the Faculty of Economics, University of Porto, teaching several courses such as, International Economics, International Trade, Multinationals and Internationalization, Microeconomics, Projects Evaluation, among others. Presently, I am an Assistant Professor with Tenure at the mentioned Department.

I am Associate Researcher at CEF.UP, Center for Economics and Finance at University of Porto, since its foundation.

I have several papers published in international journals, such as, Review of Managerial Science, Journal of Air Transport Management, International Journal of Retail & Distribution Management, Journal of International Trade & Economic Development, among others.
