BRIEF BIO
Hélder Valente owns a Bachelor degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics, University of Porto (1977), a Master degree (1991) and PhD degree in Economics (2002) from the same University where he teaches since then.
Presently, I am an Assistant Professor with Tenure at the Faculty of Economics, University of Porto. I am affiliate researcher at CEF.UP, Center for Economics and Finance at University of Porto, since its foundation.
He had been Advisor at Comissão de Coordenação da Região Norte (1987-90) and had teached in several private universities as well as in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto and the University of Aveiro.
His main areas of research and teaching are Microeconomics, Industrial Organization, Competition Policy and Regulation. His work had been published in international economic journals including International Business Review, Empirical Economic Letters as well as some books and chapters of books in the areas of Industrial Organization, Mergers and Acquisitions and Regulation and Corporate Finance.
He is also member of the Professional Order of Economists (“Ordem dos Economistas”) where he is the representative member of the University of Porto in the Professional Board.
