BRIEF BIO

Francisco Figueira de Lemos is an Associate Researcher at Uppsala University, in Sweden, and a Visiting Professor at Fundação Getulio Vargas, in São Paulo, Brazil, and Florida International University, in Miami, United States. He holds a PhD in International Business from Uppsala University, which curricula partially done at Harvard Business School, in the United States. The title of his doctoral thesis is “A Political View on the Internationalization Process”.

His scientific work focuses on comparative multilevel studies concerning the effect of the institutional environment on strategic decisions, as well as the factors which explain the differences of trade and investment performance of firms and national economies. It has been receiving international recognition through several papers published in international journals and prizes of excellence, such as the Best Doctoral Proposal of the European International Business Academy/COST and Wallander Prize from Handelsbanken of Sweden. In 2014 he was a finalist of the Gunnar Hedlund Award for the Best PhD Thesis in International Business.

Francisco Lemos’ professional path includes previous experiences as a manager, entrepreneur and consultant in engineering and international business fields. He was also a member of cabinet in the XVIII Constitutional Government of Portugal.
