BRIEF BIO
Hugo is a Labour Economist and an Applied Microeconometrician, with work published in the British Journal of Industrial Relations and the Journal of Econometrics. He is an Assistant Professor in Economics at FEP – School of Economics and Management of University of Porto, and he is affiliated at both the Centre for Economic Performance (LSE) and Cef.UP (U. Porto). He completed a Bachelor (2008) and a Masters degree in Economics (2013) at Nova SBE; and a Masters of Research (2017) and a PhD in Economics (2021) at London School of Economics. His doctoral studies have been funded by competitive grants of the Economic and Social Research Council (UK) and FCT (PT). Before the current assigment, he worked as teaching assistant at Nova SBE (2011/2013) and LSE (2016/2021), as Teaching Fellow in Managerial Economics and Strategy at LSE (2018/2022), and as an economist at the Research Departments of the Portuguese Securities and Exchange Commission (2013) and of the Bank of Portugal (2013/2015). Throughout the years, he has participated in several volunteering projects in Education, Human Rights, Humanitarian Relief and Economics areas.
