BRIEF BIO
Carlos F. Alves is an Associate Professor with Habilitation at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto, where he is the Director of the PhD in Business and Management Studies. He is also a Professor at Porto Business School, where he is the Chairman of the Academic Council. He was a member of the Porto Stock Exchange Research Department and Director of the Capital Markets Institute. He was Chairman of the National Statistics Institute (INE) Audit Committee, member of the Board of Directors of the Portuguese Association of Financial Analysts and member of the Board of Directors of the Portuguese Institute of Corporate Governance. Between 2008 and 2016 he was a member of the Board of Directors of the Portuguese Securities Commission (CMVM), a position he had also held in the late 1990s. He was also Chairman of the Committee for Economic and Markets Analysis (CEMA) of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), and a member of the Supervisory Board of ESMA.
