BRIEF BIO
Nuno de Sousa Pereira is an Assistant Professor at the Economics Department at the University of Porto. He has a doctoral degree from Health Care Management Department of the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania and bachelors and masters’ degrees from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Porto.
His research interests are in the intersection between health care, industrial organization and public economics, with a focus on the pharmaceutical industry. He has published articles in various academic journals including the Journal of Health Economics, Health Affairs, Judgment and Decision Making, the Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship, and the Journal of Development Economics.
He has worked in both private and public sectors. Nuno was the Director General of the Office of Planning, Strategy, Evaluation and International Relations at the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration from 2007 until to 2009, and Dean of Porto Business School from 2009 until 2015. He was the head of Portugal’s delegation to the Economic Policy Committee of the OECD and to the European Union from 2007 until 2009. He was the Portuguese representative to the Board of Directors of the European Investment Bank in 2008 and 2009, where he was also a member of the Sub-Committee on Pensions and Remuneration. He is currently chairman of IFD – Instituição Financeira de Desenvolvimento, S.A. He was cef.up’s director between 2017 and 2020.
